Dirvelys Allen | Dance Team / Cheerleaders Coach
Dirvelys J. Allen is in her ninth year as the head coach for the Concordia University Chicago Dazzlers' cheerleading and dance team. She is a 2007 graduate of Concordia, earning a BA in exercise science with a minor in sociology. Allen, a Chicago native, was a four-year member of the Cougars' dance and cheerleading team, serving as the captain during her junior and senior years.
Allen says, "I am extremely proud of the growth the Concordia-Chicago Cheer and Dance program has seen in recent years. I am fortunate to work with these talented young women and men to do something we all love. It has been such a honor seeing the growth of our program. We have been very successful, and I am excited to see what the future has for the program."
Allen's experience includes 17 years of cheerleading and dance. She has coached elementary through high school cheer teams and high school varsity dance teams. Allen has also worked as a cheer camp instructor for the Chicago Public Schools and has worked as a choreographer for high school cheerleading and dance teams.
Under Allen's direction, the Concordia-Chicago Dazzlers became a competition team and have participated and earned high honors in the Xtreme Dance Championships,the Universal Dance Association Chicagoland Dance Championships and the JamFest National competition. The team has also earned bids to the National Cheerleading Association Collegiate Championships and has received recognition for All-American cheerleaders. Allen is looking forward to taking the next step for her career, as she states, "The Concordia-Chicago Dazzlers' program has grown and become very successful. I am thrilled to see where else we will go!"
Allen earned her MBA from Colorado Technical University in 2010 and currently works as the Director of Enrollment Transition Planning at CUC.
